We are delighted to invite submissions of abstracts to SPARC 2026. Abstracts can outline case studies of good practice and policy implementation or research studies. Research studies can be completed studies, protocols, or ongoing studies where results are expected to be available by the conference date. Case studies of good practice and policy implementation can outline examples of promoting physical activity and movement.

Abstracts will be reviewed by the SPARC Scientific Committee with a small number accepted for oral symposium presentations on the day of the conference. The remaining abstracts will be presented as posters or infographics. All abstract presenters are required to register for the conference. We intend to collate all abstracts into a booklet which will be shared on the SPARC website.

Your abstract submission should be about Scotland, Scottish data, Scottish projects or you should outline how your submission can be transferable to a Scottish setting or context.

This year’s conference theme is “10 Years Connecting Research, Policy and Practice in Physical Activity.” We are particularly interested in:

  • Research, policy or practice examples that demonstrate how physical activity evidence has been generated, translated and applied over the past 10 years, including real-world implementation, evidence-informed policy development, collaborations between researchers and practitioners, and reflections on the successes, challenges and future opportunities for connecting research, policy and practice.

SPARC is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our events. If your abstract is selected for poster presentation, we strongly encourage the use of recyclable, reusable, or sustainably sourced materials when producing your poster. Where possible, please avoid single-use plastics and choose environmentally responsible printing options.
